Did you know that residents of Utah are almost twice as likely as Mainers to have kids? The chart below shows the top and bottom five states in terms of births per 1,000 residents. For the full list of births by state, check out statehealthfacts.org.
It’s hard to say exactly why some states are more likely to produce more babies than others, but it probably has to do with differences in culture and average age across the regions.
Or maybe it’s simply that tiny New England states are looking to save space, while expansive states like Utah, Alaska and Texas have plenty of room for the little tykes to run around. What do you think?
